Driving Licences in the U.K. We did some research on this subject for a couple about to move to the U.K. They were American citizens who had also recently lived in Germany:

"The U.S. driving licence is good for 12 months in the UK after which you would need to pass a UK test for a UK licence. However, all holders of valid EU (European Union) Licences can apply for a UK Licence directly without a test. If your German licences are still valid you should be able to obtain a British one on the strength of the German one. You can find out more about driving licences at : http://www.open.gov.uk/dvla/dvla.htm

If you have any particular queries about ordering cars for U.K. use please let us know. Vehicles in the U.K. generally cost around 25-30% more than in North America. There are ways of minimising these additional costs. Contact us for details.
