Tools

A basic toolkit should always be kept in the trunk / boot of your car, particularly if you are making regular trips out of town. (See also Breakdown).  Even if you are not mechanically minded yourself, you may find that a passenger, or possibly a passer-by, could carry out minor repairs for you. Toolkits are relatively inexpensive for the amount of trouble they could save you.  A reasonable selection of tools can be bought for around $100.
